Tired, tired, tired + crick in the neck
The design for 3214 is pretty crazy. The ER diagram alone spans 4 pages, and has so many question marks all over. Urgh. Will be dreaming of circles, squares and diamonds tonight...
Of course, my lit essay is still in a major mess. Meno was bewildering to read. And I still haven't started the textbk reading for 3251. There's still the freelancing project. Tired tired tired...
GF made soon kueh and we managed to catch some precious time together...After an intense session of badminton, i've developed this crick the size of orchard road in my neck. my tilted head now makes me look like a spastic kid. can't even turn my head properly.grumble grumble.

1) Boot up PC
2) Gasp in shock at the deadline - it was supposed to be one month away, not one day!
3) Send out rant SMSes about killer work load to friends
4) Read the question
5) Grumble and scratch head in puzzlement
6) Check your email
7) Read the novel
8) Read the question
9) Turn on ICQ and MSN Messenger

13) Grab some snacks for when you start the essay
14) Sit down in front of the PC, make sure that the room is well-lighted and the chair comfy
15) Check your email
16) Read the question again
17) Remember that you have nothing fresh to wear tomorrow. Better get to the laundry.
18) Check your email
19) Remember your long lost childhood friend. Time to get in touch.
20) Download some albums off BitTorrent
21) Vacuum your room - dust hampers creativity
22) Listen to MP3s23) Check your email

32) Curse loudly and kick a wall3
3) Lie down to receive inspiration
34) Fall asleep
35) Wake up and realize deadline is two hours away

37) Rush to school, reach the lecture hall late
38) Submit essay and fake a phone call so you can slip away from lecture
39) Complain to everyone how you spent one entire day answering a killer essay topic

Li Jia Wei
Was at Suntec City today, specifically Carrefour, at around 6pm. Whole crowds gathered around the TV screens to watch Li Jia Wei play the semi-finals. The first few matches were fantastic, with her forcing her N. Korean opponent to a 11-0 set at a point. The last few matches were painful to watch. Especially the final one. Both players were closely tied, but Li eventually lost out by 2 points. The collective sigh from the crowd was immense. Much more was at stake than a Silver/ Gold medal for Singapore. It was the abject disappointment for a sportsperson who has overcome so much and came so close, only to be denied by two points. My heart goes out to Li... Whatever the outcome of the Bronze position match, I believe she has outdone herself so far, and deserve no less than the greatest respect and encouragement from all of us.
There are some who feel that there is no glory in winning since she's a mainland Chinese by blood. I'd like to hear those people say the same thing when it comes around to soccer games like the EPL. Even better. Let them represent Singapore instead. Those who sit idle on their arses while players like Li battle their heart out do not deserve to pass judgement. Either make a tangible contribution (oratorical bravado counts for nothing) or hold your silence and accord basic respect to those who play.
Kudos to the SG Olympics Team!

CS3214 Idol
Am in a Singapore Idol mood, after watching the latest episodes. The last few singers showcased were pretty good, especially the very last woman who sang "Wind Beneath My Wings". Amazing... Anyhow, there's been a recent hoo-ha over how "cruel" and "inhumane" the judges were on the trailers. Talk about cheap advertising... I'm sure MediaCorp has it's moments, but ST shouldn't have published those complaint letters until after the episode at least... Wonder if they are simply trying to poke at their rivals.
Met up with Mr. Tan Chuan Hoo for CS3214 today... very earnest and enthusiastic fellow... obviously a "GoGoGo!" man. Now that I'm in SI mood, CS3214 kinda resembles the show, in terms of "you-are-the-last-team-you-get-a-E". Just rambling of a dazed and confused mind. I've discovered African-American lit does that to you. Or maybe it's cuz I'm neither African, American nor African-American...

Reason and Persuasion :::: Technology Strategy and Mgmt
Philosophy was odd... way odd. Lecturer could speak well fortunately, although he did meander a bit along the way. I am beginning to fear this is how philosophy works. In discrete math, to disprove a preposition P, we can look for a negation -P. Unfortunately, from what I've read from Euthyphro, in Philo, you move from P to A, to B, to -A, to C, to D, to -B ... ad infinitum/ nauseum ... -P. [A, B, C, D, ...] must of course, be seemingly logically unrelated and totally confusing, such that one is tempted to go back in time in a time machine so as to personally hasten the execution of the monster (that's Socrates to you). While we're at it, we could take out Plato as well. Even more unfortunately, everything seems to make a perverse sort of sense, since the lecturer said we'll be tested on skills we need to have before taking Philosophy... skills not covered in the main lectures. Maybe I should lose myself in the past. Hope future lectures shape up better, wisecracks aside.Tech Strat & Mgmt wasn't too bad. I didn't get some Korean fellow who is trying to aim for a groundbreaking rendition of "Careless Whisper" in Spanish. Although the material looks to be potentially boring (The five P's of Strategy? Classic textbook stuff.), the lady seemed competent and experienced enough. That's something at least. After past brain-calcifying IS lectures, I need some better quality lectures to renew my faith.

African-American Texts
... gawd, a second level literature module is way different from a level one literature module. The class size is so small that the lecturer can zoom questions around the lecture theatre. My head, of course, remained bowed most of the time. What do I know about African-American lit? Zilch. Lots of catching up to do. Diaspora, Fifth of July address, Mason-Dixon line, Jim Crow period, double consciousness, racial segregration vs integration, unionists vs abolitionists, jazz and blues, three types of irony (which i later learnt are verbal, situational and dramatic irony)... ugh. I feel so stupid.

Three women had to sit next to me. Of all places in the large and empty LT, they have to squeeze together in a show of molecular attraction. The one beside me was nodding and agreeing away. Made me feel even more stupid. After that, Co-op was packed to the brim. Had to wait a frigging long time for them to tell me that the novels/ texts I wanted were not available. Kino stocked one of them... Joe Turner's Come and Gone. 20 bucks for a slim slim volume I probably can finish in 2.5 MRT trips. No way I'm gonna buy that. Will park myself at the xerox machines.

Finally found Spring Fever from Origins. I swear, a brand so difficult to locate should call itself something less ironic. Off course, the price tag on the fragrance is enough to cause a fever by itself... the lady got me a nice, i'm-gonna-kick-ur-arse-matrix-style document bag though, so I shouldn't complain. :)

1 week left
Seven more days and school (together with assorted mayhem) will begin once more.

Planning to read:
CS3214 IS Development Project
CS3251 Tech. Strategy & Mgmt
EN2112 Reading American Txts
GEM1004 Reason and Persuasion (philosophy mod with no textbooks to buy and all-mcq exam... add my S/U option and mwhahaha!)

American Texts should be interesting if nothing else. Call me perverse, but I simply love to be the odd duck during tutorials. I get you-must-be-from-mars looks everytime I introduce myself at english/ lit lessons... how cool is that?

Anyway, spoils of the vacation:
Internship : 100%
Freelance Project : 20% (>.<" %@#$!$ Time to put a rush on it?!)
Website : 10% (I've gotten sick of the design: time to revamp!)
Games : 200%
Exercise : -100%
Culinary skills : 75% (note to self: do NOT hide behind wall when hot oil jumps!)
Sushi making : 100%
