Press Freedom

Press freedom, as long as it works for Mahathir, "ordinary citizen" extraordinaire. I'm pretty sure Mahathir wasn't such a big fan of press freedom a few years ago... it's a wonder how much of a difference a few years of "retirement" makes. Perhaps a few more years of those and he'll decide that he's a senior minister.

Obsessed
So. Probably the most important presentation of my 4 years in NUS looms tomorrow. What do I do? Rehearse for it three days in advance like most sensible students? No. I watch anime that's what.

Air is one of the most complex and beautiful animes I've come across. In 12 episodes, it brought me on a breathtaking journey that was equal parts tragic and joyful. The heartbreaking story of brave Misuzu Kamio will stay with me a long time. Who knows, I may even attempt a novelization.
The music in Air complements the story perfectly. Listen to two variations of the same song, 夏影 -summer lights- (Natsukage) . Get the other two variations from the source. (I've set the first version to play automatically. IE only.)

I'm looking for more versions of the same song. So far, I've got an upbeat remix, a metal remix, and 2 other variations from the link above. I know there's a vocal performance by Lia, and a grand piano version if I'm not mistaken. Drop me a line if you have them. Doumo arigatou gozaimasu!

What the Library Won't Tell You

Dear Enquirer,
You have not spent enough time licking your body parts. Refer here to see why that is so. To prepare you for this task, please spend at least 1 hour each day trying to lick each of the below body parts:
- neck
- ear
- small of the back
- a + [local university]
You are advised to practice the above alone. Self-lickers tend to be... misunderstood.
You will eventually find it easy (but not as enjoyable) to lick your elbows.
Best regards,
Li Lic Lick
Your Friendly Librarian
P/s If anybody asks, you didn't hear this from me.

10 Steps To Revive a Flagging Career
1) Label Taiwanese undisciplined, Hong Kongers ill-behaved, mainland Chinese inscrutable, Singaporeans stupid.
2) Pray that your remarks illicit a strong response in at least one group of people.
3) If step 2 fails, add in people of other nations (Thais are currently engaged. Maybe Malaysians and Indonesians). Repeat step 2.
4) If step 2 works, feign surprise at their ire because others have ignored your baiting.
5) Proceed to name founding father and popular songbird/ actress/ porn star as the only outstanding people you know of that nationality.
6) Pretend to be humble by adding that you could be ill-read, hence knowing few famous people.
7) Quickly overwrite effects of step 6 by employing a long and winding commentary on the nation that does nothing to explain your previous adjective ("undisciplined", "ill-behaved", "inscrutable", "stupid"). Generally aim to obfuscate your comments in step 1 by making valid observations which have nothing to do with comments in step 1.
8) Invite the nation's government or prominent universities to invite you to clarify remarks (i.e. further obfuscate original remark using tactic in step 7).
9) If step 8 works, success! You get one more opportunity to make inflammatory remarks. Repeat from step 1.
10) If step 8 fails, your remark in step 1 is true by default. Publish a book chronicling the entire process. Success! Repeat from step 1.
Note: For a detailed lesson of step 7 proceed here (Mandarin only).

A Menu Less Ordinary

Our most popular item is the Sirlion Steak. If you'd like a female's portion, we have the Mdmlion Steak. There's of course Jnrlion Steak as well. Want something larger? No problem! Try our Merlion Steak (genetically modified from a lion and mermaid of course) !
Or sample our sumptuous Hawaiian Pockchop. The pocks on them resemble the volcanic craters on Hawaii, making this dish the only authentic Hawaiian Pockchop in the world! What's that? Will they give you pocks? Of course not! Else we'd have gone pock gai already! Hyuk hyuk hyuk.
Oh yes, if you're tired of beef, chicken and pock, we have the (drum roll) Meat Lover's Special! This unique dish is made up of... beef, chicken and errr... yes, pock. How'd you guess?
